The Luberon region offers a great variety of fantastic picturesque villages. This tour takes you through the most iconic landscapes of Provence, where every turn reveals a new postcard-perfect view.
We will visit the "most beautiful villages of France" including Gordes, perched on its rock, the ochre cliffs of Roussillon, and the serene Sénanque Abbey surrounded by its famous lavender fields (seasonal).
We go inside Sénanque Abbey, with entrance tickets paid by you. In Roussillon, the Sentier des Ocres, the Ochre Path, is only walked on request.

Gordes
One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France
Built on the edge of the Monts de Vaucluse, facing the northern slope of the Luberon, Gordes is one of the most visited villages of the Luberon Regional Natural Park: two abbeys, a castle, old hamlets and hundreds of dry-stone huts called bories.
In 2023, the American magazine Travel + Leisure ranked it the most beautiful village in the world.

Roussillon
One of the Most Beautiful Villages of France · ochre
Roussillon stands on an ochre ridge. Its pigments, from yellow and orange to red, were quarried from the end of the 18th century until 1930 and gave work to thousands of people; mining is now prohibited to protect the site, and a former quarry can be walked along the Sentier des Ocres, the Ochre Path.

Sénanque Abbey
Cistercian · founded in 1148
Founded in 1148 by Cistercian monks near Gordes, the abbey keeps its Romanesque church, consecrated in 1178, its cloister, dormitory and chapter house. Its austerity is deliberate: even the capitals of the cloister columns are reduced to the simplest leaf forms.

Sophie, Born in Provence
Sophie was born in Provence, in the black truffle and Grignan-les-Adhémar region. She started Travel In Provence in 2016 as a wine tour guide, then became a licensed history guide. She holds the WSET (2016) and the French Wine Scholar (2021, Wine University of Suze-la-Rousse), and is featured in Rick Steves' Provence & the French Riviera guidebook (2023 edition onward).
Food, wine and history are her passions: her tours mix off-the-beaten-track places with the must-sees that cannot be missed.

Yes: every tour is private and tailored to your group. This one is for 1 - 4 people.

Gordes, Sénanque or Roussillon, or Orange or Avignon.
How do we travel?
In Sophie's air-conditioned SUV, a Kia Sportage, with four seats for you, plus Sophie. You can also follow her in your own car.
Can Sophie pick us up anywhere?
Sophie picks you up in Orange, or directly at a place that is part of the tour (for example, your hotel in Arles for the Arles tour). If you are staying elsewhere, she can arrange a private driver (VTC) at your expense. Tour prices do not include transport.
How much walking is there?
The tours are not recommended for young children or for people with reduced mobility: expect stairs and some difficult paths, and the level depends on the tour.
How do we pay?
By bank transfer one month in advance, or on the day.
