The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge which was built in the first century AD. It was used to carry water over 31 miles to the Roman colony of Nemausus (Nîmes today).
It is the tallest of all Roman aqueducts as well as one of the best preserved in the world. This tour combines the majesty of this Roman engineering masterpiece with a visit to the Popes' Palace in Avignon for a complete immersion into Provence's grand history.
